Starting off at Tondu (near Bridgend) we ride up the old Ogmore Vale railway line, over the Bwlch mountain and back down the Afan valley to Port Talbot. Cold but a great ride.
The rocky sea outlets of Looe and Polpero in Cornwall, to Bomin jail and then along the Camel trail to Patdstow and Newquay. Very hilly, short steep rises.
Cycling along old railway paths and canals are great but are often incomplete, Twickenham to Newhaven has probably the longest continuous sections of cycle route in the UK, with 95 percent off road.

From Bath to Radstock to Frome on the Colliers way, via the great reconditioned two tunnels. Then from Frome to Yatton on the Strawberry line, via Wookey Hole, Wells, and Cheddar.
Southampton using the ferry to Hythe, to Calshot, Holbury, Lymington via Beaulieu (national motor museum), Brockenhurst via Hurst Castle, Lyndhurst and back to Southampton. More walking than cycling.
We wanted to do ride at night through the Forest of Dean, and to add to the novelty; it was near Christmas and we were travelling some of the journey on the Royal Dean Forest railway. Watch out for ghosts!
